IITA Recruitment Stages

I have gone through one of their recruitment before so I can share some first hand information about how it went.
They rolled out vacancies for different positions and I was fortunate enough to be called for the test.
Yes, you will write a test.

On the day of the test, we were up to around 50 which means they probably do not call a lot of people.

We met with the then HR manager and his assistant who went about preaching how there was no nepotism at IITA and how we should work hard to pass because we were all competing against one another.

So we wrote almost five different papers in a day for HR department, Accounting, Facilities e.t.c
Writing, Spelling, logic, quantitative and another. Cannot really remember.

Fortunately, I was called for the interview. In fact I was the over all best for the department in which I applied. The result was pasted on the main gate for all to see.

On the interview day, we were to meet with a panel of five comprising of the HR manager and some white folks and another black man. Then the unexpected happened.

I met with a new girl who confirmed to me that she did not pass but she was asked by the HR manager to come.
She knew I did excellently well and so she appealed to me to change departments.
I was holding onto the HR managers words on the test day that corruption do not happen in their recruitment process so I kept my cool. Believing she was just a one chance. Trust me she was not!.

So I went in to the interview and made a mistake. I did not talk about my observations about the strange lady outside and I will never make that mistake again. I did not talk about it and I did not get the job. What difference would it have made if I mentioned it during the interview.

The lady got the job I heard and I could remember I perceived the HR manager was hostile to me during the interview.

Apart from the above, the pay is good. They pay in dollars. The environment is like a campus. Serene and beautiful with vegetation's and trees. Training's are done abroad I heard and you will be working internationally and trained by the best hands.

The process is around two months or so.

Ask your questions.

  1. Thanks for the info. I applied since last month for administrative assistant but I haven't heard anything from them. Should I still have hope?

    1. Hello Adetola, lets give it sometime. Will also investigate and inform you once they start calling. However, they are highly organized and would gibe you a call or a mail irrespective of your application status.

  5. Hello i have i question.
How did the lady expect you to change department? And what observation were you supposed to report?

  6. Great question Vicky. To probably mention during the interview a change of department and why it may be the best choice and the observation that the shortlisting had probably been compromised was meant to be reported to the directors during the group interview.
